Working with partners that share our values is important to us at Asantii. Fair work practices, meeting sustainable standards, and empowering women and communities to create beautiful pieces is something we take pride in.
Nozala Trust was established as a public benefit organisation to support and develop woman entrepreneurship. With a mission to support black woman through capacity building, financial and technical assistance, and mentoring support, the Nozala Trust mission is in line with Asantii’s core ethos. Asantii works with two of its rural coops, Mathonsi Simunye and Rehlakile, to develop beadwork and jewellery.
Cabes is a social enterprise in Ouagadougo that specialises in textiles, including Burkina Faso’s renowned hand loom woven and hand dyed Faso Dan Fani cloth. Cabes partners with the Ethical Fashion Initiative, a public-private partnership of a UN program, a group of social enterprises and industry partners. It focuses on offering employment to artisans from marginalised communities and supplies its world class textiles to major fashion brands across the globe, with living wage assessments, code of conduct and labour standards forming a part of the daily operations. The artisans of Cabes have created the hand-woven bespoke pique striped Faso Dan Fani fabric in the Asantii’s collection.
Ibaba Rwanda was created as an initiative to offer young girls in rural communities training as embroiderers. Inspired by the workshops created in the 1970’s, the sister founders re-established an artisanal embroidery workshop that had tragically ceased trading following the 1994 genocide. Today, their reputation for excellent artisanship has led to the workshops creating skills and employment for women while suppling brands worldwide. The embroiderers of Ibaba have produced the Abode Santann Eye and the Akuaba Fertility Stool hand embroidered symbols embellishing our Urembo
boyfriend shirts.
